My sister's vacation

My sister, Becky was gracious enough to grace me with her presence for the weekend. She rode up on the train and stayed two nights. It was great! She didn't have to take care of her kids for the weekend and I got to spend some much needed time with her. We had some fun, going to some movies, eating out and even the Woodland Zoo, in NW Seattle. It was a great zoo and the animals were actually moving around! Check out grandma gorilla! Isn't she nice looking?

We also went to the Central Library in downtown Seattle. If anyone ever visits Seattle, they definitely need to check out the library. It is awesome! Very modern architecture, and tons of books of course.

Here is inside the library at the highest point, the 10th floor. Yes, there are that many floors.

Here is Becky in from the of Pike's Place Market with her Starbucks coffee, from the very first Starbucks, right near the market. The market was busy, everyone out and about.

Another stop along the way was the Olympic Sculpture Park, a part of the Seattle Art Museum system. This weekend was the grand opening of the park. Definitely modern art, not my favorite, but it was attractive to the eye. This particular sculpture is called "The Eagle".

Snow day!

So, it was a cold, snowy day in Seattle last week. Actually a few days, although it is melted off now. But it was fun to look at and enjoy for a day. Here is the view from my balcony. Nice 76 sign huh? Kind of obstructs my view.

Fun in the Sun!

So the weather has been sunny with bright blue skies lately!! It is just in the 20's and 30's with a little snow on the ground. But the snow if fun, nice to have a break from the rain. My fourth week in Seattle has gone by and I've already had three visitors. My mom came up this last week and we did a few fun things in the city.

Walked along the waterfront and had some fish and chips! YUM. Then we took a trip up the Space Needle for a wonderful view of the city. It was freezing up there though, but we would just step inside to warm up inbetween pictures.

Then, today I took a trip to Discovery Park to check out the lighthouse at the park and enjoy some more sunny, cold weather. It was a great day to be outside, the sun was even warming me up a bit. If you look hard enough, you can see the Olympic mountains in the background.

Sunset in Seattle

Well, after a long month of seeing everyone I've made it to Seattle. And as you can see it doesn't rain all the time up here. This picture is from the top of my apartment building, pretty nice huh? Sadly I don't get that view from my own apartment, but it is a nice place. I'm living in the University district, about a mile from the hospital I'm working at. The last few weeks have been quite busy with the holidays and I haven't had internet until today, so now I'll keep everyone a little more informed!
