Las Vegas

I just spent two nights, three days in Las Vegas and enjoyed it more than I thought I would! Never having seen the strip before it was a pleasant surprise. We stayed at The Mirage, seen in the picture below. This hotel has a volcano that erupts every 30 minutes in the evening.

The second day we suffered through laying by the pool in 105 degree weather. Thank goodness it is dry heat! Then we got dressed and went to dinner and a show in the Venetian. Here is a picture with Elton John, of course it is just his wax figure. Ashley and her sister Stephanie and I all enjoying ourselves.

Las Vegas gets much more beautiful during the night hours. And a little cooler with the sun down! The Bellagio has a wonderful water fountain that goes off every 15 minutes to a whole list of songs. It was one of my favorite sites!

Another fun experience in Las Vegas is all the wild (but caged) animals. Mostly big cats, but among them the white tigers! There were also dolphins, lions, leopards and an aquarium at the Mandalaly Bay, full of sharks and beautiful fish.

"The Strip" is full of a handful of casinos and hotels, all different styles. I think my favorite was the New York, New York, pictured below. I also liked the Luxor, which is shaped like the sphinx and pyramid, although having been to Egypt, neither the sphinx or pyramids are in Luxor, they are in Cairo.

Anyway, it was a good trip. And yes I did gamble a little bit and even won some. A good trip and an enjoyable city. Definitely something for everyone, and that is coming from someone who enjoys the wilderness and hiking over most trips!

Family

Here is my beatiful new niece, Gwyndolyn, just a few weeks old.

Took a trip with my mom, nephew and older neice last week to Crater Lake. It was a lot of fun, although Ben and Hailey were really bored at Crater Lake. Ben said, "Did we drive all this way just for this?" Silly boy.
